My Darling Gunslinger

After seven years on the run, crossing oceans and uncharted lands to escape an aristocrat with murder on his mind, Lady Charlotte Grenville, Countess of Westlockhart, has finally found a safe haven in the wilds of Montana.

Until the night a gunslinger wounded in body and soul falls at her feet.

In a single hand of cards, Tyler Morgan wins both the Zeppelin Ranch and the chance to hang up his guns forever. He never expects to find a proper English lady living on his land with her son and an odd assortment of servants.

With his past haunting him and his heart threatened by the lady who can never be his, Ty’s future stretches out before him in one long, lonely eternity.

When Charlotte’s secrets are revealed and her life endangered, will Ty strap on his guns once more to embark on a perilous journey to the glittering world that is Victorian London?

Winding Down 2015

Another Christmas has come and gone, and soon we’ll be ringing in a new year.

And 2016 will be ringing in with a loud, clinking and clanking bang, with My Darling Gunslinger due to be released in January and Once Upon a Regency: Timeless Tales and Fables! in February.

I’m going to give myself a belated Christmas gift of a bit of time off between now and January 1st. Time to sit around in my pajamas, to read for the pure pleasure of it and to binge watch seasons 1 and 2 of Black Sails in preparation for the start of season 3.

While I’m lounging around, reading historical romances, watching pirates pillage and plunder and eating bonbons in my pj’s, you can still enter to win December’s Corset, pre-order Once Upon a Regency for only 99 cents and win all sorts of great prizes simply by scrolling down this page. Enjoy!

Jingle Bell Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop along The Jingle Book Blog Hop!

If you’ve visited my website, you know I like to explore historical idioms and ideals. So, it will surely come as no surprise that I could not resist exploring the traditional holiday song Jingle Bells. Written in the nineteenth century by James Lord Pierpont, Jingle Bells was originally titled One Horse Open Sleigh and intended as a Thanksgiving song. While that little bit of knowledge is interesting, what captured my attention was the notion that the little ditty was considered by some to be risque. It seems that in certain circles the younger set used the tune as a drinking song, clinking the ice in their cups to mimic the sound of bells as they belted out the song. And if that weren’t scandalous enough for the times, the song tells the story of a young man not only taking Miss Fanny Bright out for a ride sans chaperon, but advising a friend to find himself a girl and do the same!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little slice of history on my stop along The Jingle Book Blog Hop. To enter to win a signed copy of Pretty Poison, a Wine Bottle Corset and two Corset Bookmarks, enter my Jingle Book Blog Hop Giveaway. Or leave a comment including the phrase “Jingle Bells” and you’ll also be entered to win December’s Corset, pictured below.

Happify December

If you’ve subscribed to my newsletter, Corsets and Kisses, you know I have a fascination with historical idioms and ideals and delight in sharing my discoveries with my readers. In December’s issue I explore the phrase Happily Ever After

Sometimes my curiosity leads me down twisting paths and it was on one of these paths that I encountered an archaic word that, long ago in a bygone era, was considered perfectly proper English.

Sometime around 1620 the word Happify meant just what it ought to: to make happy.

So, let’s Happify December with all sorts of fun events and fabulous giveaways in celebration of the coming release of Once Upon a Regency: Timeless Tales and Fables!
